After a desperate plea from Ontario Premier Doug Ford to bring in stricter measures at the border, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says his government will stop foreign students from coming to Ontario. Trudeau said that while downplaying the border as an issue and despite the fact that Ford never specifically asked for that particular measure.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki called the Ohio police shooting of a teenage girl who appeared to be wielding a knife “tragic” and said it will fuel the White House to continue addressing “systemic racism.” “Let me just say, since you gave me the opportunity, the killing of 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant by the Columbus police is tragic. She was a child,” Psaki said. “We know that police violence disproportionately impacts black and Latino people and communities and that black women and girls like black men and boys experience higher rates of police violence.”
A 911 caller alerted police that someone was “trying to stab us” before the fatal officer-involved shooting of 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant, who appeared to attack two other females with a knife on Tuesday. Police released new information about the case on Wednesday, including two 911 calls, the body-worn camera footage of three officers who responded to the call and the identity of the officer who pulled the trigger.
Some Democrats seethed privately. They heard the remarks of House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters, D-Calif. Waters pushed demonstrators to be “confrontational” if the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial didn’t go the way she wanted.
