Toronto police have arrested a man in a hate-related assault investigation. Police reported a 22-year-old skateboarder passed a man who allegedly uttered racial slurs at him in the Wellington-Simcoe St. area around midnight on Saturday. The man assaulted the skated border with an object and continue to make racial slurs, according to the allegations. The skateboarder flagged down police and was taken to hospital for minor injuries. Toronto Police’s Hate Crime Unit is treating the assault as a suspected hate crime. Hussein Hassan Yusuf, 41, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, obstructing a peace officer, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
