HUNTER: Silent treatment from cops in Brantford woman’s murder

Shannon Burnside, 37 and a mother of two, was murdered sometime between March 8 and 11, 2020 at her Brantford home. The problem is that her family, friends and the public at large weren’t told about it. That is, until her family went public in November. And the Brantford Police Service? Well, erm, uh, “protect the investigation” blah, blah, blah. In 30 years of covering cops and crime, I realize that detectives have to “protect the investigation” for a week, maybe two, by withholding details. Maybe longer.
