He remembers waking up in the middle of one night feeling distressed. It was the same night he watched a video of a young Asian woman being attacked at a Vancouver bus stop. Every time Yu watches videos of Asian people being physically assaulted in the news or hears reports of a spike in hate crimes against his community, he says it makes him feel upset.
