It’s time to take back this country from the vandals who would deny our history and defame our heroes. A statue of Britain’s wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill was defaced outside Edmonton city hall last week. For those whose pathetic grasp of world history doesn’t include the Second World War, here’s a refresher. Churchill stood up to real fascism when the world was threatened by a totalitarian regime that murdered millions in death camps. In cities around the country, statues of Canada’s first Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald have been taken down or covered up. In Toronto, activists pulled down a statue to Egerton Ryerson outside the university that bears his name. Some now call it X-University.
