RCMP are asking for tips after photos showing the crosshairs of a gun aimed at officers were posted online during an ‘anti-lockdown’ rally last weekend at the Whistle Stop Cafe near Mirror, south of Edmonton. Operators of the Whistle Stop Cafe, about 150 kilometres south of Edmonton, have been vocal opponents to ongoing provincial public health measures that restrict Alberta restaurants from opening to dine-in services. The restaurant has continued to open for months in defiance. Alberta Health Services (AHS) said last Wednesday that it had closed the cafe after receiving more than 400 complaints about the business since January. The Court of Queen’s Bench pre-emptively granted an injunction against the planned protest, prohibiting the owner and supporters from promoting, organizing or attending the anti-lockdown rally. AHS said legal action would be taken against individuals who opposed the injunction. The photos appearing to target officers were posted online the same day.
