Brampton man, 32, facing human-trafficking charges

A Brampton man faces numerous charges for allegedly forcing a woman into the sex trade. Durham Regional Police say the woman came forward with her allegations earlier this month and their Human Trafficking Unit launched an investigation. A man allegedly posted ads, arranged dates, drove the victim to her calls, and then took “all of her money,” Sgt. George Tudos said Wednesday. He said a suspect was arrested on Tuesday with the assistance of the DRPS Offender Management Unit. Carl “Ikenna” Obonna, 32, who also goes by “Orange/Ikenna,” is charged with financial/material benefit trafficking a person over 18, obtaining sexual services for consideration, material benefit from sexual services, advertising another person’s sexual services, and two counts of trafficking in person by exercising control.
