Man allegedly steals ex-girlfriend’s dog, sets it on fire

One way to get back at an ex-partner is to hit them where it hurts. A 40-year-old Utah man did just that after it’s alleged that he stole his ex-girlfriend’s beloved dog and set it on fire. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Michael Paul Busico was arrested on Tuesday on charges of torture of a companion animal, criminal trespass, theft and arson after authorities received a call about a dog being set on fire near the town of Magna. In court documents obtained by Deseret News, cops received a report of a stolen dog earlier in the day by the animal’s owner. The woman told authorities that the person who stole her dog was her ex-boyfriend, who went missing along with the animal when she returned home. The woman said her dog was stolen “in retaliation to their failing relationship.” Court documents further revealed the woman’s family also contacted police after a description of the suspect and the vehicle matched Busico.
