Breaking: Trudeau ministers announce details of COVID detention centres for travellers
Federal ministers Dominic LeBlanc, Anita Anand, and Patty Hajdu announced new measures to be implemented at the border starting later in February. The new measures, which the Trudeau Liberals say come in response to concerns around variants of the COVID-19 virus, will be implemented throughout various days in the next month. “As we can see, public health measures are working in Canada,” said Minister of Health Hajdu, “But Canada is still in a delicate stage.” As of February 15, 2021, all non-essential travellers arriving to Canada by land will be required to provide a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of prearrival. Essential workers will be exempt from the requirement. As of February 22, travellers entering Canada at a land border will be required to take a COVID test on arrival, as well as towards the end of their 14 day quarantine.
