Tory reaches out to those suffering the COVID blues
“It’s OK not to be OK,” during a pandemic, Mayor John Tory said during Wednesday’s city COVID-19 briefing. He said every aspect of his life has been affected by the pandemic. “I miss seeing people. I miss how things used to be,” he said. And he isn’t alone. Since the start of the pandemic, more than 100,000 people have reached out to city phone lines seeking help and mental health support. Calls to the city’s 211 helpline have increased significantly, according to Toronto officials. “There is help available if you need it 24/7. I encourage anyone feeling lonely or depressed to reach out for help,” Tory said.
