Rep. Liz Cheney, No. 3 House Republican, will vote to impeach Trump
The third-ranking House Republican, Rep. Liz Cheney, said Tuesday she will vote to impeach President Trump for allegedly inciting rioters to storm the Capitol last week. The Wyoming congresswoman is chair of the House Republican Conference and her support for impeachment is likely to result in more Republicans joining her ahead of an anticipated Wednesday vote. In a statement, Cheney said, “I will vote to impeach the President” in response to the riot. “On January 6, 2021 a violent mob attacked the United States Capitol to obstruct the process of our democracy and stop the counting of presidential electoral votes. This insurrection caused injury, death and destruction in the most sacred space in our Republic,” Cheney wrote.
