Denied heart medication, grandfather enters third day of CBSA detention at Toronto airport

Over 50 hours in, and Rose Deokarran is still sick with worry. And it took a full day before she finally learned why her father was being detained. Ever since Surjpaul Deokaran’s Caribbean Airlines flight from Guyana landed at Pearson airport early Monday, the 60-year-old grandfather has languished in Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) custody — apparently held on suspicion of smuggling drugs.
