Invasive spotted lanternfly potential risk to Ontario’s fruit, wine industries

An invasive insect poses a possible threat to the province’s important wine and fruit industries. The North American arrival of the spotted lanternfly (SLF) was first detected in Pennsylvania in 2014, where it immediately began gorging on its grape vines and showering park paths with excreted “honeydew.”
