Four Calgary police officers involved in the fatal shooting of a man in a hotel more than five years ago will face a disciplinary hearing into the incident. But the dead man’s mother said she’s angry the officers won’t have to answer to more of the allegations against them, while the constable who pulled the trigger won’t be subject to any discipline. Heffernan, 27, was shot and killed by Cst. Maurice McLoughlin, who the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) recommended be charged in his death. And in his own review of the case, Neufeld said because McLoughlin resigned from the service last May, he can no longer be disciplined.
