Party hosts face $10Gs fine as Ford pops balloon on big bashes in Toronto, Peel and Ottawa

The Ontario government is limiting the size of informal social gatherings in Toronto, Peel and Ottawa to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors. This includes functions, parties, dinners, gatherings, BBQs or wedding receptions held in private. The new rule will not apply to more formal gatherings like religious services or to business settings. And as promised by Premier Doug Ford, the fines are severe. “We will throw the book at you if you break the rules,” Ford said Thursday, announcing fines of $10,000 for organizers of illegal social gatherings and $750 each for their guests.
