In what Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams believes to be the first charges of its kind in the province, an Alberta man has been charged with 3D-printing firearm parts. When officers searched his home, they found multiple 3D printers and an assortment of manufactured firearm parts, including pistol lower frames, an assault rifle receiver and frame, a bump stock for converting a semi-automatic into a fully automatic firearm, and silencers. The items were determined to be primarily manufactured by 3D-printing and were fully functional parts, the RCMP Forensic Science and Identification Services lab said following examination and ballistics testing.
