It seems like an eternity ago that Justin Trudeau and the Liberal party climbed from third place to win the 2015 federal election with a pledge to “do different things, and do things differently.” The Liberals’ time in office has certainly been marked by different things. It’s just not the things that most Canadians bargained for back in those halcyon days of “real change.” The list of unflattering things, which, incidentally, has regularly implicated the prime minister himself, has grown quite long. It got longer on Tuesday, when the PM announced that he was proroguing Parliament immediately, suspending the business of the House until late September. Real change indeed.
