People like to be a part of clubs, especially exclusive clubs. And that certainly is the case for Justin Trudeau and Bill Morneau. They’re both in the club of well-connected elites who feel the rules don’t apply to them, while being absolutely certain that the rules DO apply to you and me, and that we should punished if we violate them. Of course, when they violate the rules, they think there should be no punishment. In their view of things, rules are for those “below them.” Trudeau and Morneau both see themselves as “rulers,” not as “servants,” and that elitist arrogance is clear for all to see. The distinction between rulers and servants is crucial.
