Identifying the creator of rock ‘n’ roll is easier said than done. Like many music genres, it evolved from a mixture of influences that ranged from the rhythm-and-blues stylings of Chuck Berry and Little Richard to the country numbers of Hank Williams. As the 20th century progressed, rock expanded into a web of subgenres, including punk, grunge, psychedelic, heavy metal, pop, Christian, and so on. In other words, what it means to be a rock star is open to interpretation. That said, most rock stars do have something in common beyond their musical predilections: their knack for choosing statement accessories.
