The city will be paying nearly $3 million over a six-month-period to temporarily house homeless people moved from encampments at the end of April in two leased midtown buildings, The Toronto Sun has learned. On April 30, the city announced the homeless living in tents were being moved into 125 furnished units in midtown as interim housing in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, given complaints of limited capacity in shelters and the inability to physical distance.
