BRAUN: Are handshakes and bulk bins things of the past?

Let’s retire the handshake. Now that scrupulous hand-washing is second nature — a tiny silver lining in all this — the handshake may be doomed as a social gesture. Too bad, as it’s often a quick insight into character, but risky on the contagion front. Bare hands may not rebound. We may revert to wearing gloves at all times, just as people did for generations prior to modern sanitation methods. Do we need bulk bins of anything? Open displays of food items that can’t be washed or cooked before eating may have to go.
