City hall is suspending recycling collection in Brockville for two weeks in an effort to protect the health of front-line workers. City officials announced Friday that, for the weeks of Mar. 30 to Apr. 3, and Apr. 6 to 11, there will be no curbside collection of recyclable materials. Garbage collection will continue as scheduled. “Many blue box materials carry the risk of contamination by the coronavirus and are handled and in close contact by the collection staff,” officials said. “Therefore, to reduce the risk, recycling collection will cease for the next two weeks, and the situation will be re-assessed at that time.” “Garbage collection will continue, and any loose garbage (ie. in garbage cans) must be bagged and tied closed in order to be collected. Loose garbage will not be handled by collection staff.
