In the time of pandemic crisis, a Waterloo tech company is hoping its “Canadian Shield” will come to the rescue. As a response to health-care workers facing a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE), InkSmith is producing two models of face shields to help replenish the supply. The first is a 3D-printed version meant to be for one-time use. The company is donating the masks to Ontario hospitals and to health-care providers, such as personal support workers and pharmacists. So far, they’ve made 1,000 of them.
