Any accused person scheduled for an appearance between March 17 and June 1 on a criminal matter is to have their case adjourned — unless the court orders otherwise. Ontario’s chief justice, Geoffrey B. Morawetz, made the decision due to coronavirus concerns. On June 2, any accused person who had March court dates must appear in the courtroom they were to appear in on the earlier date. April court dates are adjourned until June 3 and May until June 4. If the accused fail to show, a bench warrant will be issued for their arrest.
